(T&E10) Introduction to Cyber Test and Evaluation

CT&E
An introduction to core cyber security concepts enabling engineers to incorporate cyber security into the test and evaluation process. This course will introduce common security vulnerability classes, supply chain security considerations, security for Operational Technology (ICS/SCADA), types of security testing, threat modelling and lifecycle support.

Introduction:

The Australian Defence Force is increasingly embedding computer systems and networks in new capabilities, as well as integrating legacy platforms into larger, more complex networks. These systems and networks face a wide range of threats from a range of malicious actors in a constantly evolving threat landscape. Reliance on standalone and air-gapped systems as is no longer feasible, and failing to adequately assess the resilience of systems in contested environments risks degradation, disruption or denial of key capabilities.

This course introduces a range of core concepts of cyber security and use contemporary case studies to provide students an understanding of security risks present in modern systems, with a focus on understanding the implications on broader capability lifecycle management.

For those without a background in T&E and/or Capability Life Cycle or who need a refresher - an introduction to these will be conducted from 8-830.
